Waiting for the Book

Readings in Planning Theory, 3rd Edition (Campbell & Fainstein, 2011) is on its way to me. In the meantime, I’ve started Writing Public Policy (Smith, 2005) as it was on a syllabus list for an intro to planning course. As of this moment, I’m on page i of the book.

My first reaction is that this is a good introduction in how to get the “public” involved. Make sure they understand that by showing up and participating they are influencing/creating public policy.

Smith (2005): “Actual processes are messy” (p. vi). Hell, yeah.

I think we’ll end on page 2 tonight. It’s getting late.
